SAMHITA SIDDHANT AND SANSKRIT

The Sanskrit Samhita Siddhanta department of Ayurveda is a significant component of Ayurvedic education and practice. Samhita –Siddhanta department is the most important department of Ayurveda. This department deals with the study of basic principles of Ayurveda which are described in classical treatise i.e. Ayurveda Samhitas. This department primarily focuses on teaching and preserving the Sanskrit language, which is the classical language of Ayurveda. Samhitas are basically written in Sanskrit hence for better understanding of samhita, Sanskrit is taught as a subject.

The department covers two main categories of Ayurvedic texts - Samhitas and Siddhantas. Samhitas are the core classical texts that include foundational principles, theories, and treatment methods. Siddhantas are commentaries and interpretations of these texts. This department play a crucial role in preserving and passing on the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda to future generations.
